March 31, 2020

The 2019-2020 school year is obviously not coming to a close as we had envisioned and certainly not what we hoped for, but you make the best of every situation!  This is my 32nd year in the education business and I realize now  the reason I love it is because it’s never boring. Like everyone else I am very concerned about our citizen’s well being.  We do live in the United States of America, the greatest country in the world.  We will persevere!

It is very disappointing that our students are missing so many end of the year activities.  We are constantly monitoring our situation and will make every effort to help our students.  We still plan to have a graduation ceremony and a date will be scheduled as soon as possible.

Our school population has remained about the same, fluctuating between 1225 to 1230 students.  Most of the time, our enrollment will vary some with the economy.  The oil and gas business plays a huge role in our school.

One of our most important roles at this time is taking place in our Child Nutrition Program.  We are currently serving breakfast and lunch to approximately 280 students a day.  This is made possible by our cafeteria staff and bus drivers, who are working to prepare and deliver meals.  We are very blessed to have people that care about our students.

The State Board of Education voted to close all public schools March 23rd to April 6th.  During this period we have posted software packages on our school website to offer educational materials for our students. At the present time our people are busy preparing to provide distance learning educational services.  This process is different in each of our schools and is developed to be age appropriate.  The details about these programs are being sent out by each Principal.  Our distance learning programs will begin on April 6th.

We do have electrical and fiber up-grades scheduled to start in May.  Hopefully, this will take care of power and internet interruptions that we have.  This work is being made possible thanks to the passage of our last bond issue in 2018.

Thanks for all of your support,

Dan Chapman
